Since 1960 the Sheriff's Advisory Board (formerly known as Junior Deputies League) has helped provide needed instruction to children in Pinellas County elementary schools, both public and private. This volunteer organization has assisted the youth of our community in gaining understanding and interest in such important areas as: personal safety, bicycle safety, stranger danger, and mini law.

Sheriff's Advisory Board

Funds necessary to enhance the Explorer Post 900, as well as supporting a little league team, the Florida Sheriff's Youth Ranches, and other youth oriented projects are provided by this non-partisan, non-profit organization. By reaching our youth at the beginning of school life, we ensure the potential for good citizenship and respect for the law as they grow older.

Message from the Sheriff:

People who promote law enforcement don't always wear uniforms. They may live next door to you. Our Pinellas County Sheriff's Advisory Board members are your neighbors and friends.

The Advisory Board is a shining example of a public-private relationship at its best, working hand in hand to promote safety, good citizenship, and respect for the law among elementary school students in our area.

The benevolence of the Sheriff's Advisory Board, a community based organization of adult volunteers whose support and fundraising activities help to provide educational materials, extends to thousands of students annually throughout the public and private schools in Pinellas County.

The activities of the Sheriff's Advisory Board prove that concerned citizens working together can have a positive influence on the development of our youth.

As president of the Sheriff's Advisory Board I extend an invitation to your to join us in our endeavors as we strive to shape the future of tomorrow's leaders.

Jim Coats, Sheriff
