The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to offer Project Lifesaver to families and caregivers of persons with Alzheimer’s, autism and other similar special needs. Due to the circumstances of their condition, these special needs persons may have a tendency to wander away from home.
By enrolling in the program, a Project Lifesaver client is equipped with a personalized wristband that emits a tracking signal. If the client wanders from home, caregivers can call 911 and trained search teams will be activated to locate the client.
Recovery times average less than 30 minutes.
The program is endorsed by the National Sheriff’s Association, the Florida Sheriff’s Association, and leading autism and Alzheimer’s groups. Project Lifesaver helps insure the safety and security of our most vulnerable citizens.
The initial cost to register with Project Lifesaver is $300, which includes twelve mandatory monthly battery replacements. The annual maintenance fee after the first year is $70.
