 What:

According to deputies with the Sheriff’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT), Simpkins was headed northbound from Bay Pines to Seminole Blvd. around 11:30 last night, January 20th. He reportedly lost control of the vehicle as he came through the curve, and crossed over into the opposing traffic lanes before striking a pole in front of a business located at 5050 Seminole Blvd.

 A citizen assisted Simpkins out of the vehicle, but responding Fire Rescue had to cut the passenger, Stephens, out of the vehicle. Stephens suffered multiple broken bones.

The crash occurred around 11:30 last night, January 20th

The crash occurred at 5050 Seminole Blvd., Seminole

 How/When

Deputies believe alcohol may be a factor in this crash. Deputies also have information the vehicle was involved in a hit and run with another vehicle in the parking lot of a Seminole area business prior to the crash.

The investigation continues.
