Detectives assigned to the Robbery/Homicide Unit are investigating a possible home invasion robbery in which the victim sustained serious injuries.

The crime occurred at 5104 67th Way North in unincorporated St. Petersburg.

Deputies initially responded to the call at about 8:38 a.m. on Friday, February 24, 2012.


The crime was reported to the Sheriff’s office by a friend of the victim who came to visit him; and discovered him injured in the home and calling for help.

The victim, identified as 58-year-old William Bennett Roberts was transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

According to detectives the suspect was beaten.

No arrests have been made at this time.

The investigation continues.
