Pinellas Sheriff’s Detectives Conducting Death Investigation At Jail After Inmate Hangs Himself

Was being held on numerous serious felony charges from Pinellas County agencies – including several holds from Hillsborough County on charges including Attempted First Degree Murder and Escape.

What: While conducting a check on Inmate Randall, Detention Deputies observed Randall hanging from his bunk. They summoned medical staff and Fire Rescue. Immediate efforts to revive Randall at the scene were unsuccessful. Randall was pronounced dead at 10:44 p.m. at the jail.

Where: Randall was found hanging in his single-person cell, located in South Division, which is the maximum security section of the jail.

When: He was pronounced dead in his cell at around 10:44 p.m., Monday, October 17, 2011.

Sheriff’s Homicide detectives, and investigators from Internal Affairs are investigating the death – which is per agency policy and procedure in these incidents.

Randall hung himself with what appears to be a bed sheet from his bunk.
