What:
Detectives have arrested a Largo man for Lewd and Lascivious Battery on a 14-year-old victim.

When:
The suspect was arrested on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at approximately 10:00 a.m. The incident occurred on or around May 1, 2014.

Where:
The crime occurred at an undisclosed location in the Oldsmar area.

Why/How:
Detectives have arrested a Largo man for Lewd and Lascivious Battery on a minor.

Detectives began their investigation on June 11, 2014 after the victim disclosed to her mother that she and the suspect engaged in sexual activity on or around May 1, 2014 at an undisclosed location in the Oldsmar area. The suspect and victim were known to each other.

Through various investigative techniques the suspect was identified as 22-year-old Matthew A. Lopez.

Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit met with Lopez on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 and he admitted to the allegations.

Lopez was arrested and transported to the Pinellas County Jail without further incident. Lopez is charged with Lewd and Lascivious Battery.

The investigation continues.
