What:
Deputies responded to a near drowning in Indian Rocks Beach. The 3 1/2-year-old victim has been taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

When:
Deputies responded to the near drowning at about 3:53 p.m. on Thursday July 17, 2014.

Where:
The incident occurred at the Holiday Inn near Jimmy Guanas restaurant located at 401 2nd Street Indian Rocks Beach.

Why/How:
Deputies responded to the near drowning at approximately 3:53 p.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the Holiday Inn near Jimmy Guanas restaurant located at 401 2nd Street Indian Rocks Beach.

According to deputies, the 3-year-old victim, identified as Dominic A. Cicco was swimming in the hotel pool with his father when another child nearby noticed Dominic unresponsive in the water. 11-year-old Riley Cooper assisted in pulling Dominic from the water and nearby adults administered CPR and 9-1-1 was called.

Dominic was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The near drowning does appear to be accidental and no charges are pending at this time.

The investigation continues.
