Narcotics detectives have arrested a Largo man for sale and possession of controlled substances after a controlled purchase was made from the suspect. The suspect is a firefighter and a SWAT Medic for Pinellas Park Fire Department. He also works part time as an ER Nurse at Northside Hospital in St Petersburg.

Detectives arrested the suspect at about noon on Saturday, July 12, 2014.

The suspect was arrested in the parking lot of Northside Hospital.

Detectives assigned to the Narcotics Division received information on Friday, July 11th, 2014 that the suspect, identified as 38-year-old James Allen Comer, was selling prescription drugs.

Detectives began their investigation; and through a controlled purchase from the suspect on Friday evening, developed probable cause to arrest him.

Comer was arrested on Saturday, July 12th in the parking lot of Northside Hospital. Detectives say Comer sold and was in possession of eight different types of prescription pills, to include morphine, xanax, hydromorphone and oxycontin. He was arrested for 8-counts sale of a controlled substance and 8-counts possession of a controlled substance. He was transported to the Pinellas County Jail without further incident.

The manner in which Comer obtained the medication is still the subject of an open investigation.

The investigation continues.
