Deputies have arrested a suspect in connection to a robbery at a Bank of America location in unincorporated St. Petersburg.

The robbery occurred at the Bank of America located at 8181 54th Avenue North in unincorporated St. Petersburg. 

The robbery occurred at approximately 12:10 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2014.

Pinellas County Deputies have arrested a man in connection to a bank robbery in unincorporated St. Petersburg. According to detectives, the suspect entered the Bank of America located at 8181 54th Avenue North in unincorporated St. Petersburg at approximately 12:10 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2014. The suspect was armed with what appeared to be a handgun and demanded money from two tellers. The suspect then exited the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash. Witnesses observed the suspect getting in to a Silver Chevy Silverado and leaving the scene.

Deputies in the area located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. Deputies were able to stop the vehicle in the area of 62nd Avenue just East of 53rd Street. Deputies approached the vehicle and were able to take the suspect into custody.

Deputies were able to locate cash and the weapon used in the robbery inside the vehicle the suspect was driving.

The suspect, identified as 52-year-old Mark Merrill was arrested and transported to the Pinellas County Jail without further incident. Merrill has been charged with one count of Armed Robbery.

The investigation continues.
