What:
Deputies responded to Indian Rocks Beach after a man was found unresponsive in the Gulf. The man was transported to a local hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. He was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.

When:
Deputies responded to the incident at about 6:58 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24 2014.

Where:
Deputies responded to 1308 Gulf Boulevard in Indian Rocks Beach.

Why/How:
According to deputies, 45-year-old George Baletsa had been playing with his kids at the beach, when he decided to go for a swim.

A fisherman located him unresponsive in the water – and pulled him out. Deputies responded and initiated CPR.

Baletsa was then transported to Largo Medical Center for treatment of life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the hospital at 8:11 p.m. on June 24th.

Deputies say Baletsa and his family were in Pinellas County on vacation from Massachusetts.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine cause and manner of death.

The investigation continues.
