The Sheriff’s Office will be joining the dedication of “Elisa’s Reading Nook” this Saturday at Palm Harbor Middle School. Elisa was riding her bike to Palm Harbor Middle School on the morning of November 4, 1980 when she was abducted and subsequently murdered. The Sheriff’s Office investigated the case. The suspect was arrested and executed in April of 2013 for the killing.
The dedication will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2014.
The dedication will take place at Palm Harbor Middle School located at 1800 Tampa Road.
In early 1981, a plaque honoring Elisa was installed at Palm Harbor Middle School. The plaque was displaced at some point when a new Palm Harbor Middle School was built in 1983. This Saturday, May 31st a reading nook, along with a mural featuring Elisa’s favorite things , including a horse, a softball, and the Girl Scouts logo - will be dedicated in her honor.
The dedications and celebration of Elisa’s life is open to the public. The media is invited to cover.
