The victim is a 15-year-old female who is known to the suspect. Per Fl. Statute, 119.071(2)(h)1 no further information will be released that would tend to identify the victim.

Detectives have arrested a St. Petersburg man for Lewd and Lascivious Battery on a victim under 16. Detectives believe there could be more victims.

The incidents occurred on three occasions between July of 2013 and January of 2014.

The battery occurred at a private residence in St. Petersburg.

Detectives have arrested a St. Petersburg man for Lewd and Lascivious Battery.

Detectives began their investigation after it was disclosed that the suspect had sexual contact with the victim on three different occasions between July of 2013 and January of 2014.

Through various investigative techniques, detectives identified the suspect as 28-year-old James C. Woods.

Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit met with Woods on Thursday, May 22, 2014 and he admitted to the allegations.

Woods was charged with two counts of Lewd and Lascivious Battery and transported to the Pinellas County Jail without further incident.

Detectives have advised that Woods was a youth softball coach in the St. Petersburg area and had frequent contact with children. It is believed that there may be more victims.
