Detectives assigned to the Robbery/Homicide Unit are currently investigating a stabbing incident and a deputy involved shooting in unincorporated Clearwater. Two persons are deceased. No deputies were injured.

The incident occurred at about 12:15 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2014.

The incident occurred at a private residence located at 2917 Pine Cone Circle at the Eastwood Pines Townhomes subdivision.

According to deputies at about 12:15 p.m. on May 16th, the Sheriff’s Communication Center received a call in which a male calling from the listed address, reported he had stabbed his mother and killed her.

Deputies responded to the scene and challenged the home.

Corporal Pete Doyle, approached the front of the residence, knocked at the door and annouced himself as a Sheriff’s deputy. Suddenly, the deputies heard yelling and screaming coming from within the residence. Deputies say the suspect came down the stairs, made his way out the door and continued to advance toward Deputy Doyle with something in his hand.

Doyle repeatedly ordered him to stop, but the subject continued advancing towards him. Corporal Doyle fired several shots. The suspect died on scene.

The body of a female was discovered inside the residence. Deputies say it appears the woman was stabbed. A butcher knife was located next to the body.
