Detectives assigned to the Special Victims Unit have arrested a suspect for possessing child pornography after the suspect admitted to downloading and sharing the child pornography via his computer.

The suspect was arrested on  Friday, May 2, 2014.

The suspect was arrested at his place of residence located at 601 Rosery Road NE in Largo.

According to detectives, the arrest of the suspect is the result of an undercover internet investigation in Pinellas County. The investigation began on March 8, 2014.

Through their investigation detectives assigned to the Special Victims Unit, identified a potential suspect that was sharing child pornography videos via the Internet. Detectives obtained a search warrant which was served at the residence of the suspect on Friday, May 2, 2014 at 6:00 a.m.

Detectives interviewed the suspect, identified as 33-year-old Michael Patrick Freeman and he admitted to the allegations.

Freeman was arrested and transported to the Pinellas County jail without further incident. Freeman has been charged with 8 counts of Possession of Child Pornography and 1 count of Promotion of Child Pornography.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office is a member of the Central Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

The investigation continues.
