Two Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office members have graduated from FDLE’s Florida Leadership Academy.

The graduation was held on April 11, 2014.

Seminar participants met at the Florida Public Safety Institute in Havana, Florida.

The Pinellas County Sheriff Office announces the graduation today of Sergeants Dennis Garvey and Timothy Kelly from the Florida Criminal Justice Executive Institute’s Leadership Academy. Sergeant Garvey is assigned to the Sheriff’s Crimes Against Children Unit; and Sergeant Kelley to the Economic Crimes Unit.

The graduating class includes 34 first-line supervisors representing criminal justice agencies from across the state and who serve in leadership roles within their agencies.

Class participants met for four weeks at the Florida Public Safety Institute in Havana, Florida and acquired skill necessary to support the needs of their agencies and their communities and to prepare for future challenges.

The Florida Criminal Justice Executive Institute, established within the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and affiliated with the State University System, was established in 1990 by the Florida Legislature to address the need for an innovative and multi-faceted approach to the education and training of criminal justice professionals.
