Deputies responded to a near drowning in unincorporated St. Petersburg. The 1-year-old victim has been taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Deputies responded to the near drowning at about 9:55 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2014.

Deputies responded to 5401 Westchester Blvd. located in unincorporated St. Petersburg.

At approximately 9:55 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2014 deputies responded to a reported drowning at a private residence located at 5401 Westchester Blvd. St. Petersburg.

According to deputies, the victim’s caregiver was preparing her home for a family get together and the victim was outside in the fenced in backyard with a family friend. The caregiver came outside and noticed the victim was not near the friend and located her in the in-ground pool. The victim was taken out of the pool and 9-1-1 was called.

The victim, identified as 1-year-old Skylar Devlin ,was transported to a local hospital via ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

The near drowning does appear to be accidental and no charges are pending at this time.

The investigation continues.
