The Sheriff’s M.A.I.T. Team is conducting an investigation into a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene after he was struck by one vehicle and then run over by a second.

The crash occurred at about 12:44 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2014.

The crash occurred at the 4900 block of Gulf Boulevard in St. Pete Beach.

According to investigators 17-year-old Patrick McClean was crossing Gulf Boulevard when he was struck by a 2011 Hyundai driven by 50-year-old Patsy Harris in the southbound lanes. McLean was then run over by another vehicle, a 2008 Volkswagon being driven by 27-year-old Sean Daniel.

McClean was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies say alcohol may be a factor in the crash. Both drivers showed signs of impairment.

Deputies say McClean crossed midblock.

The 4900 block of Gulf Boulevard was closed from the time of the crash until about 7:00 a.m. on March 22.

The investigation continues.
