***Updated***14-041 Detectives Seek Public’s Assistance In Identifying Palm Harbor Car Burglary Suspect(s)

Detectives have arrested a suspect in connection to a car burglary that occurred on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 in the Palm Harbor area. Detectives identified the suspect seen in a recent surveillance video as 24-year-old Kyle Jeffrey Lang. Lang admitted to detectives that he committed the burglary.  Lang has been charged with burglary conveyance-unoccupied and was transported to the Pinellas County Jail without further incident.

Detectives are still working various leads in reference to other car burglaries in Palm Harbor in the area of Tampa Road to Alderman Road and Alternate 19 to Belcher Road. The first incident occurred on February 11, 2014 and the most recent incident occurred on the evening of Tuesday, March 11, 2014.

Detectives assigned to the Burglary/Pawn Unit are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a car burglary suspect who may be linked to multiple car burglaries in the Palm Harbor area. The vehicles in each of the burglaries were unlocked at the time of the incident.

When:
The car burglaries occurred within the past month with the first occurrence on February 11, 2014 and the most recent occurring on evening of Tuesday, March 11, 2014.

Where:
The burglaries occurred in Palm Harbor in the area of Tampa Road to Alderman Road and Alternate 19 to Belcher Road.

Why/How:
Detectives assigned to the Burglary/Pawn Unit are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a car burglary suspect who may be linked to multiple car burglaries in the Palm Harbor area.

According to detectives, there have been multiple car burglaries in Palm Harbor in the area of Tampa Road to Alderman Road and Alternate 19 to Belcher Road. The first incident occurred on February 11, 2014 and the most recent incident occurred on the evening of Tuesday, March 11, 2014.

The suspects enter unlocked cars and remove items from inside the vehicles. At times, the vehicles have been stolen when the keys have been left inside. There has not been any reported sign of forced entry to any of the vehicles.

During the most recent incident the suspect is observed walking towards the victim’s driveway, opening the door of the vehicle and entering the vehicle through the driver’s door. The suspect is observed rummaging through the victim’s belongings inside and then exiting the vehicle and walking away from the driveway.

The suspect is described as a white male in his early 20’s wearing a light colored t-shirt and shorts with light colored tennis shoes.

The investigation continues.
