14-009 Dispute Leads To Small Fire In Lealman Area, Deputies Investigating

What:
Deputies are searching for the female suspect in an apparent arson incident which resulted in a dispute over money with her ex-boyfriend.

When:
The incident occurred late afternoon, Friday, January 17, 2014

Where:
Lakeside Terrace Apartment Complex – 4200 62nd Ave. North

Why/How:
According to deputies the victim and the suspect met at a convenience store near the apartment. Deputies say Mitchell reportedly borrowed some money from Russell some time ago, and Russell demanded the money be repaid. When Mitchell left the convenience store, the suspect reportedly followed him back to his current address – his mother’s apartment.

The suspect then followed Mitchell to the second floor apartment and followed him inside where she allegedly sprayed him with lighter fluid. He ran out of the apartment after being sprayed. She reportedly remained, and allegedly ignited a curtain on fire. A small sofa cushion also caught fire. Mitchell observed the suspect leave the apartment and then ran back inside and extinguished the small fire.

Deputies responded and the investigation continues.
