The inmate was arrested at about noon on December 18, 2013.

The inmate was arrested during a traffic stop on 58th Street, just north of 54th Avenue in Kenneth City.

Through their investigation, deputies received a tip as to the possible whereabouts of Johnathan Ray Jones. At about noon on December the 18th, deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in which Jones was a passenger, and arrested him on a warrant for escape without further incident. Jones was transported to the Pinellas County Jail.

On December 17th, 2013, 29-year-old Jones was assigned to an inmate work crew conducting a clean-up detail at the baseball field located at 4145 34th Street North in St. Petersburg (behind the VFW), when he walked away from the work detail that was being supervised by jail staff. Deputies began their investigation and the search to locate him.

Records show he is a non-violent offender and had no prior history of discipline at the jail. He had been arrested multiple times since 2003, primarily on drug related charges.
