What:
Deputies have arrested a suspect who fled from detectives and then barricaded himself in a home. The suspect later surrendered to deputies.

When:
The suspect fled from detectives at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2013. The suspect surrendered to deputies and was taken into custody at approximately 4:55 p.m. the same day.

Where:
The suspect was arrested at a private residence located at 8660 Flamevine Avenue in Seminole.

Why/How:
On Wednesday, December 11, 2013, detectives assigned to the Burglary & Pawn Unit were working an on-going investigation involving an armed burglary, that occurred earlier this month, where a firearm was taken. Detectives were attempting to locate the firearm taken in the armed burglary. Through their investigation detectives learned their initial suspect had given the firearm to another male suspect.

At approximately, 2:30 p.m. detectives attempted to make contact with the suspect, identified as 28-year-old Juan Civo Yacup, at his residence located at 8697 Quail Road in Seminole. While detectives were speaking to a female at the residence, Yacup fled through the back of the residence in an attempt to escape from the detectives. As he fled, the suspect dropped a bag of marijuana and a gun. The suspect then ran inside a nearby residence located at 8660 Flamevine Avenue in Seminole and refused to come out. The homeowner exited the residence once the suspect was inside.  The homeowner was known to the suspect.

Deputies attempted to make contact with Yacup and continued to give commands for him to exit the residence. After approximately 2 hours, Yacup surrendered to deputies.

Yacup was taken into custody at without further incident at about 4:55 p.m. and transported to the Pinellas County Jail. Yacup has been charged with Felon In Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Cocaine, Dealing in Stolen Property and Resisting Arrest without Violence.

The investigation continues.
