The victim was a 6-year-old female at the time the crime occurred, who is known to the suspect. Per FL Statute 119.071(2)(h)1 no further information will be released that would tend to identify the victim.

Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit have arrested a man for Sexual Battery on a Child Under 12.

The suspect was arrested on Tuesday, November 12, 2013.

The crime occurred on multiple occasions between the years 2002 and 2003.

The crimes occurred at a private residence in Pinellas County.

Pinellas County Detectives have arrested a Sumter County man for Sexual Battery on a Child Under 12. Detectives began their investigation on October 14, 2013, when the victim child disclosed that the suspect molested her between the years of 2002 and 2003. The victim advised detectives that this occurred on multiple occasions at a private residence in Pinellas County.

Detectives continued their investigation through the month of October and obtained a warrant for the suspect on October 28, 2013. The suspect has been identified as 24-year-old Charles Willis II. The suspect was 13-years-old at the time the crime occurred.

Detectives made contact with the Willis on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 in Sumter County. Willis denied the allegations. Willis was arrested and is currently being held at the Sumter County Jail.

The investigation continues.
