Arrested for seduction of a child using internet or electronic device

The victims are two twelve year-old females, who were acquainted with the suspect. Per Fl Statute 119.071(2)(h)1, no further information will be released that would tend to identify the victims.

Detectives assigned to the Special Victims Unit have arrested a man for seducing via phone texting two twelve-year old girls he met while working the bouncy house and inflatable slides on Clearwater Beach. Detectives suspect there may be other victims and ask anyone with information to contact the Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect was arrested on a warrant at about 10:39 p.m. on November 6, 2013.

The crime occurred in Pinellas County.

According to investigators, the crime was reported to the Sheriff’s Office on August 16, 2013 after adult relatives of one of the victims found inappropriate text messages on the girl’s phone. Detectives say the messages included solicitation for nude photos as well as sexually explicit conversations.

Detective began investigating and determined that during the latter part of this summer the girls were frequenting the bouncy house and inflatable slides on Clearwater Beach. The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Leonardo Lopez-Navarro befriended the girls and allowed them to go on the slides and bouncy house for free. Detectives further determined that inappropriate physical contact took place at that location between the suspect and the victims.

On November 6, 2013, detectives obtained a warrant and arrested the Lopez Navarro. During the interview, the suspect admitted that he had shared his phone number with various juveniles.

Detectives suspect there may be other victims and request that anyone with information that may assist them in this investigation to contact Detective Holly Tsanakaliotis of the Special Victims Unit at 727-582-6200.

The investigation continues.
