The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post 900 hosted the September 2013 Florida Association of Police Explorers Delegates Meeting and Pistol Competition. The competition began September 27, 2013 and ended on September 29, 2013. The event took place in Pinellas County with the pistol competition being held at the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Shooting Range.

The event began with Explorer posts from around the state meeting for a full day of training, which consisted of a domestic violence investigations lecture and followed up by 10 different scenarios, each participating post was assigned to investigate. Explorers then had an opportunity to show off their skills at the Shooting Range during the pistol competition.

During the individual shooting competition, Explorer Kelley Butterfield won 1st place and Explorer Captain Kyle Hughes won 2nd place in the Expert Division.  Explorer Lieutenant Spencer Shaw placed 3rd in the Sharpshooter Division.  Explorer Max Dulski placed 1st and Explorer Sergeant Elizabeth Vogt placed 3rd in the Marksman Division.

Participating in the Team Shooting Event were Explorer Captain Kyle Hughes, Explorer Lieutenant Spencer Shaw, Explorer Kelley Butterfield and Explorer Max Dulski. The team took 1st place overall.
