What:  Members of the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) are currently conducting a motorcycle fatality investigation on the Indian Rocks Causeway.

Where:  Indian Rocks Causeway
Indian Rocks Beach, FL

When:  The single vehicle crash occurred at approximately 7:53 p.m. on 9/2/2013.

How/Why:  

Members of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) are investigating a single vehicle crash involving a motorcycle.  The crash occurred on the eastbound span of the Indian Rocks Causeway at approximately 7:53 p.m. 

The driver of the 2000 Kawasaki 1100 Supersport, Jacob Austin Scott, died at the scene as a result of the injuries suffered in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing but speed appears to be a contributing factor.

It was also discovered during the investigation that Scott had a suspended driver’s license.
