Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) are investigating a single motorcycle crash in St. Pete Beach.

The incident took place on Blind Pass Road near 76th Avenue in St. Pete Beach.

The crash occurred on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at approximately 11:21 p.m.

Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) are investigating a single motorcycle crash in St. Pete Beach.

At approximately 11:21 p.m. this evening, the driver of a 2000 Harley Davidson exited a nearby parking lot and pulled on to Blind Pass Road. The driver then began to drive northbound in the southbound lanes of Blind Pass Road. While attempting to change lanes, the driver hit the median and was thrown from the motorcycle.

The driver of the Harley Davidson, identified as 60-year-old Earl W. Pruitt Sr., was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.

Pruitt was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

It is unknown at this time if alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The investigation continues.
