With the new school year among us, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, along with various other law enforcement agencies want to take a proactive step toward Active Shooter situations in our schools.  During the training, law enforcement personnel will discuss shooting incidents that have occurred all over the country, then actually conduct live scenarios on school grounds.

The public and residents in the area should not be alarmed by the law enforcement presence at the middle school during this time.

Interested media is encouraged to arrive at 1:30 p.m. when the live scenarios will begin.

When To Call

In Florida, simply dialing 9-1-1 in an emergency connects you to EMS, law enforcement, and the fire rescue.

The 9-1-1 system is for emergencies only – serious vehicle crashes, critical medical situations, crimes in progress, or fire.

Do not call 9-1-1 for non emergency transportation.

If you are unsure if your situation is a true emergency, officials recommend that you let the call taker determine if you need emergency help.
