13-133 Deputies Investigate Reported Aggravated Battery In Clearwater

What:
Patrol deputies are investigating an incident of aggravated battery after a woman was reportedly attacked and cut on the back while walking in the High Point neighborhood of unincorporated Clearwater.

When:
The incident occurred between midnight and 1:00 a.m. on June 17, 2013.

Where:
Deputies responded to the 15000 block of Avalon Avenue in Clearwater.

Why/How:
According to deputies, the 25 year-old female was walking from a friend’s house to her home in the High Point area of Clearwater, when she was reportedly knocked to the ground by two males and apparently cut on the back. (The distance from one house to the other is just a couple of blocks). Deputies say the incident occurred sometime between midnight and 1:00 a.m. on Monday, June 17, 2013.

Deputies say at some point following the attack, the victim made it home and began to tap at the door; her roommate came out, saw that she was injured and called 911.

The victim was transported to a local hospital by air for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

No description of the suspects is available at this time.

Deputies say nothing was stolen from her during the attack.

The victim will not be identified at this time, as the suspects are still at large.

The investigation continues.
