What:
Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) are investigating a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash that left one man seriously injured.

When:
Deputies responded to the crash at about 9:32 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2013.

Where:
The crash occurred on Gulf Boulevard just south of 46th Avenue in St. Pete Beach.

Why/How:
According to investigators, the pedestrian, 58 year-old Eric Jack Hampton was crossing Gulf Boulevard, from east to west. Witnesses told deputies that Hampton made it to the median and that as he ran across Gulf Boulevard he was struck by a vehicle driven by 69-year-old Susan W. Carlson that was travelling southbound in the curbside lane.

Hampton was transported by ambulance to Bayfront Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.

The investigation continues.
