School Crossing Guard William “Bill” Edwards
A Pinellas County school crossing guard was honored by his fellow co-workers during his retirement luncheon.

Pinellas County Crossing Guard, William “Bill” Edwards was honored today during a retirement luncheon held at Bascom’s Chop House in Clearwater. Mr. Edwards was hired as a School Crossing Guard in November of 1988. He was promoted to a Region Coordinator in 1992 and currently supervises several school crossings including Curlew Creek Elementary, Lake St. George Elementary and Carwise Middle School.
Over the years Mr. Edwards has participated in several bicycle and pedestrian safety programs including the Annual Walk to School Day each October. In 2003, Mr. Edwards received recognition from MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) for his participation in the DUI checkpoints conducted by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
Mr. Edwards is 81-years-old and will be retiring after 24 years of service. His official last day of work will be Wednesday, June 5, 2013. Mr. Edwards will turn 82-years-old on June 6, 2013.
