While visiting Belleair Beach with a friend this evening, victim Phyllis Kalinowski was fatally struck by lightning during a heavy thunderstorm.

Phyllis and her friend, Dawn Ryskoskis, arrived in Belleair Beach earlier in the day to take part in sight seeing activities.

At approximately 6:00 p.m. a heavy thunderstorm came through the area.  Phyllis and Dawn had separated just prior to the storm.  As Dawn returned to where she last saw Phyllis, she noticed her lying on the beach near the shoreline with injuries indicative of a lightning strike.  When emergency personnel arrived on scene, Phyllis had succumbed to these injuries.
