The victim is a female who is now 14 years-old. Detectives say she was a victim from the age of 4 to the age of 12. She is known to the suspect. Per Florida Statute 119.071(2)(h)1 no further information will be released that would tend to identify the victim.

What:
Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit have arrested a man for two-counts lewd and lascivious molestation after he molested a child over a period of about 8 years.

When:
The crime occurred from the time the child was 4 to the time she was 12 years-old.

Where:
The crime occurred in Palm Harbor.

Why/How:
Detectives began investigating this case on March 21, 2013 after the victim, who is now 14 year-old, disclosed to her parents that the suspect, identified as 21-year-old Zachary Watton had inappropriately touched her since the time she was 4 until she was 12-years-old.

Detectives say on April 30, 2013, the suspect voluntarily came to the Sheriff’s Administration Building for an interview. During the interview he admitted to the crime.

Watton was arrested for two-counts lewd and lascivious molestation and was transported to the Pinellas County Jail without further incident.

The investigation continues.
