Detectives assigned to the Robbery/Homicide Unit, with the assistance of the St. Petersburg Police Department, have arrested a suspect in connection with three robberies (3/27/13, 04/02/13 and 04/05/13) at City Food Market located at 5028 66th Street North in unincorporated St. Petersburg. (For further details see press releases 13-063 and 13-065)

The suspect was arrested on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at approximately 2:00 p.m.

The suspect was arrested in St. Petersburg.

Sheriff’s detectives, with the assistance of the St. Petersburg Police Department, have arrested 18-year-old T’Checoy K. Johnson in connection with the three above listed robberies.  

St. Petersburg Police officers contacted Sheriff’s detectives after locating the Toyota Yaris with a partial tag number of P57…in St. Petersburg. Detectives advised officers there was active probable cause to arrest T’Checoy K. Johnson based on a latent print left by the suspect at City Food Market during Friday’s robbery (4/5/13).

St. Petersburg Police Officers observed Johnson driving the Toyota, conducted a traffic stop and placed him under arrest.

During an interview with Sheriff’s detectives Johnson admitted to the two other robberies on 3/27/13 and 4/02/13.

Johnson was transported to the Pinellas County Jail without further incident.

Johnson is currently under investigation by both the Pinellas Park Police Department and the St. Petersburg Police Department for open robbery cases.

The investigation continues.
