What:  Deputies and officers from the Florida Fish and Wildlife are currently searching for a boater who fell overboard near Fort Desoto Park yesterday.

When:  The incident took place on Sunday, 4/7/13 at approximately 4:30 p.m.


Deputies and officers from the Florida Fish and Wildlife are currently searching for a boater who fell overboard near Fort Desoto Park yesterday.

While boating near Fort Desoto Park yesterday with his wife, Michael Rhine began to have engine trouble.  As Michael worked on the outboard motor he fell overboard, not to resurface.

When alerted of these events, law enforcement officials from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Fish and Wildlife immediately began a search for Michael. 

Officials conducted the search by land, sea and air until approximately 11:00 p.m. last night.  Prior to daybreak today, deputies and officers resumed their search efforts.

Various forms of sonar equipment, helicopters, and boats are being utilized to locate Michael.  

Boaters and visitors in the area are asked to call the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office should they see anything suspicious. 

The investigation continues.
