The crimes occurred between December 2012 to February 2013.

According to detectives, the investigation began after the victim’s parents discovered the suspect in the victim’s bed. The parents called 911 and deputies responded.

On February 27th, 2013, Smith voluntarily responded to the Sheriff’s Administration Building for an interview with detectives. Detectives say he admitted to the crimes. The suspect was arrested for three-counts unlawful sexual activity with a minor and transported to the Pinellas County Jail without further incident. Additional charges are pending.
