What:
Detectives assigned to the Robbery/Homicide Unit are continuing their investigation into the death of a woman whose body was found on Gandy Beach.The woman has been identified as 51-year-old Pamela Sue Simon. Ms. Simon is not a transient as originally reported. The death does not appear to be suspicious in nature.

When:
The body was located at about 7:10 a.m. on Thursday, February 21, 2013.

Where:
The body was found at 13090 Gandy Boulevard.

Why/How:
According to detectives, a passerby walking along the area discovered the body and called 911. Detectives began their investigation.

Detectives say the body of 51-year-old Pamela Sue Simon of St. Petersburg was found in an inlet near mangroves. The body was reportedly found just east of the Banana Boat.

Frst responders pronounced her dead at the scene. The Medical Examiners Office has conducted an autopsy – and the final determination of cause and manner of death is pending toxicology reports. The death is not believed to be suspicious in nature; and may be health and/or alcohol or drug related.

The investigation continues.
