Pinellas County roadways.

Pinellas County deputies will maintain a high profile on the roadways this New Year’s Eve Weekend in order to help ensure a safe holiday for citizens and visitors. The increased profile is an effort to reduce or eliminate injuries and deaths associated with the holiday traffic.

Sheriff’s deputies will be on the lookout for impaired or reckless drivers. They remind all in Pinellas County to celebrate responsibly: Don’t drink and drive.

Deputies encourage citizens to designate a driver before they head out, or call a cab. Staying away from behind the wheel after drinking saves lives.

In addition, in a continuing effort to reduce DUI related injuries and educate the public about the dangers of drinking and driving year-round, the Sheriff’s Office will continue to conduct DUI Checkpoints and Wolf Pack patrols throughout the new year.

When To Call

In Florida, simply dialing 9-1-1 in an emergency connects you to EMS, law enforcement, and the fire rescue.

The 9-1-1 system is for emergencies only – serious vehicle crashes, critical medical situations, crimes in progress, or fire.

Do not call 9-1-1 for non emergency transportation.

If you are unsure if your situation is a true emergency, officials recommend that you let the call taker determine if you need emergency help.
