Bechtel Financial has donated 97 bicycles to the Pinellas Sheriff’s Christmas Sharing Project.

The Bechtel Family will present the children’s bicycles to the Sheriff’s Office at 9:00 a.m., Friday, December 14, 2012.

The bikes will all be lined up with red bows and ready to go.

Sheriff Gualtieri will be on hand to receive the bicycles and thank the Bechtel family.

Deputies and other Sheriff’s Office staff members will distribute the bikes to families receiving holiday assistance through the Sheriff’s Christmas Sharing project. The Christmas deliveries are part of the annual Sheriff’s Christmas Sharing Project, where Pinellas Sheriff’s Office members submit the names of children, crime victims and families who need help over the holidays.

Overall, Sheriff’s Office members have shopped for more than 700 children this holiday season. The gift items, clothes and toys were purchased with $40,000 earned during the Sheriff’s annual “Ride & Run With the Stars” event which was held at Ft. DeSoto Park on December 1st.

The bikes will be rolled out for presentation and pick-up at the Sheriff’s AFIS Building, located at 4645 145th Avenue North – activities will take place in the parking lot. The Sheriff’s Command Bus will be on site.

Deputies will load up their cruisers with the bikes at 9:00 a.m., Friday, December 14, 2012.

Each family involved in the Sheriff’s Christmas Sharing Project was identified and nominated for holiday assistance by Sheriff’s Office members who met them during their daily work in the community.

The Bechtel family of Bechtel Financial is giving back to the community through their donation of 97 bicycles to augment the other purchases of clothing and toys made through the Christmas Sharing Project.

When To Call

In Florida, simply dialing 9-1-1 in an emergency connects you to EMS, law enforcement, and the fire rescue.

The 9-1-1 system is for emergencies only – serious vehicle crashes, critical medical situations, crimes in progress, or fire.

Do not call 9-1-1 for non emergency transportation.

If you are unsure if your situation is a true emergency, officials recommend that you let the call taker determine if you need emergency help.
