What:      The Violent Crimes Task Force reports the arrest of two suspects in connection with a series of crimes in the City of St. Petersburg. The Violent Crimes Task Force is comprised of deputies from the Pinellas Sheriff’s Office and officers from the St. Petersburg Police Department.

Where:     Just after 11:00 p.m., Friday night, November 30th – Violent Crimes Task Force members spotted a 2007 Jeep Compass – they knew was a stolen vehicle – in front of a convenience store located at 1421 22nd Street South.

What:        The vehicle was stolen in a home invasion robbery in St. Petersburg on 11/3/12, and had been used in the intentional ramming of a St. Petersburg Police vehicle on 11/28/12.

How/Why:  Task Force members set up on the vehicle, and observed the passenger leave the vehicle and go into the store. They contacted the driver – Nelson, who attempted to flee by ramming a PCSO vehicle, then bailed from the Jeep and fled on foot. Nelson was apprehended by other Task Force members and placed under arrest. Williams was arrested in the store without incident.

The Task Force recovered two .38 caliber handguns, and black bandannas – the two suspects were wearing dark clothing.

The investigation continues. The original Home Invasion and Agg. Batt. on LEO cases are being investigated by the SPPD.
