13-235 Detectives Investigate Seminole Shooting And Crash

What:
Detectives assigned to the Robbery/Homicide Unit are investigating a shooting that occurred in the front yard of a private residence in Seminole. Three suspects fled the scene in a vehicle, led deputies on a pursuit, and ultimately crashed the vehicle in a ditch. Two suspect were arrested following the crash. One suspect is still being sought.

When:
Deputies responded to the shooting during the evening hours of Monday, October 28, 2013.

Where:
Deputies initially responded to a private residence located at 8485 Pelican Lane.

Why/How:
According to detectives, an adult male was shot in the front yard of a private residence located at 8485 Pelican Lane. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives say following the shooting, three individuals fled in a vehicle. According to deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team,  deputies attempted a traffic stop of the suspect vehicle at 66th Street and 62nd Avenue. The vehicle fled eastbound on 62nd Avenue and reached speeds of 100 miles per hour. Deputies say the driver lost control of the vehicle and entered a ditch at the south side of 62nd Avenue. The vehicle also struck a power pole severing the pole. The driver of the vehicle was taken to Bayfront Medical center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries (broken wrist). One of the passengers was also transported to Bayfront Medical Center for treatment of serious injury. The second passenger fled on foot.

K-9 deputy responded and began to track the individual. A search continues for that third suspect.

The victim and suspects’ names are not currently available for release.

The investigation continues.
