After Brief Pursuit Is Terminated, Fleeing Driver Crashes Into Tree

 Joshua Hall (driver of fleeing vehicle), has died due to injuries he received from Saturday morning’s one vehicle crash.

 Hall was transported to a local hospital for serious injuries sustained in the crash and was eventually put on life support on Saturday. Hall was removed from life support late Sunday and was pronounced dead after 9:00 p.m. Sunday.

 An autopsy will be conducted. The investigation continues.

What:  Pinellas County Deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicle in which the driver was suspected of driving impaired.  The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and led deputies on a brief pursuit.  After the pursuit was terminated, the fleeing vehicle crashed into a tree nearby.

Where:  The crash was located at 11th Avenue North and 25th Street in St. Petersburg.

When:  These events occurred shortly after 1:00 a.m. on 9/22/12.


Shortly after 1:00 a.m. this morning (9/22/12), members of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Strategic Enforcement Section (SES) initiated a traffic stop on a suspected impaired driver.

The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle at 18th Avenue and 28th Street North in St. Petersburg. 

The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and accelerated south on 25th Street North.  Deputies briefly gave chase before terminating the pursuit.

Still traveling at a high rate of speed on 25th Street North, the fleeing vehicle crashed into a tree near 11th Avenue.

Deputies responded to the crash scene to render aid.  The four occupants in the vehicle were eventually transported to a nearby hospital for injuries sustained in the crash.

The driver of the vehicle (Joshua Hall) is listed in serious condition.  According to reports, the other three occupants suffered minor injuries.

A later search of the vehicle revealed multiple bags of marijuana and open containers of alcohol.

It was also discovered that Hall had a revoked Driver’s License.

The investigation continues.
