Pinellas County Deputies responded to a Palm Harbor apartment complex late this afternoon and revived a 3-year-old drowning victim.

At approximately 5:00 p.m. this afternoon Pinellas County Deputy Sheriffs Regina Tsanakaliotis and James Piper responded to 2480 Cypress Pond Road in Palm Harbor.  While at this location on a separate matter they became aware of the distressed child in the apartment complexes pool area.  Both deputies hurried to the scene where they discovered the unresponsive child lying near the shallow end of the pool.

Bystanders are reported to have given the child CPR with no success.

Immediately upon their arrival Deputies Tsanakaliotis and Piper turned the child on his side and delivered several life saving thrusts to his back.  These actions caused the child to cough up what he was apparently choking on and start breathing again.

Deputies stood by with the child until Palm Harbor Fire Rescue arrived on scene.

Bayflight eventually transported the child to a local hospital where he is in stable condition.
