How/Why:

Pinellas County Narcotics Detectives have arrested a local dentist for multiple counts of Obtaining a Controlled Substance (Triazolam) by Fraud.

Detectives originally received an anonymous complaint stating Dr. NADIA O’NEAL was obtaining narcotics illegally and committing insurance fraud at her Nu Smile Dental business located 13611 Park Blvd in Seminole.  O’NEAL would advise her staff that they were out of Triazolam medication that is used to perform sedation procedures within the dental office.  O’NEAL would instruct the staff to call in a prescription with her orders for Triazolam under the employees’ names from the clinic.  The employees’ health insurance was used during the purchase of the prescriptions at a reduction in cost and the employees never received the medications.  The Triazolam medication was administered to patients at the dental office and the patients were charged for the sedation treatment by O’NEAL.

Triazolam is a schedule C IV benzodiazepine narcotic used by dentists as an oral sedation on anxious dental patients.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division at 582-2828.
