What:  Deputies respond to near drowning in Madeira Beach this afternoon.  Victim still in serious condition.

Where:  12960 Gulf Blvd
Madeira Beach, FL

When:  The incident occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. Monday, May 28th 2012.

How/Why:  

Deputies responded to a near drowning in Madeira Beach this afternoon.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. deputies and fire rescue personnel responded to 12960 Gulf Blvd in Madeira Beach where Renato Morales Mendoza
was discovered unresponsive in the water, just off shore.

Bystanders pulled Mendoza from the water and gave him CPR until fire rescue arrived on scene.

Mendoza was taken to a nearby hospital where he is in serious but stable condition.
