What:  A Seminole man has been arrested for multiple hate crime related charges.

For almost 2 years, Allan Richter is alleged to have sent the victims 20 hate filled, threatening letters.

Richter was arrested for these crimes in Missoula, Montana late Thursday afternoon and will be extradited to Florida soon.

Where:  The offenses took place in the unincorporated area of Seminole, FL

When:  The victims received 20 threatening letters from 7/4/10 – 3/8/12.

How/Why:

Efforts from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Operations Bureau, Investigative Operations Bureau and Forensics Unit have lead to the arrest of a Seminole man for multiple Hate Crime related charges.

Since 7/4/10 Amy Query and Nathan Maingi have been receiving racist, threatening letters at their residence in unincorporated Seminole.  Some of the letters were sent via US mail, some left at the door step.

Finally in March of 2012, there was a break in the case.  A partial fingerprint match on one of the letters lead detectives to suspect Allan Dale Richter, a near-by neighbor of the victims.

Richter, who has a criminal history to include; Fraud, Disorderly Conduct, Aggravated Assault and Carrying a Concealed Weapon, had recently abandoned his residence and moved to Montana.

On 3/27/12, Query and Maingi met with the Pinellas County State Attorney’s Office and explained the traumatic ordeal Richter put them through over the past 2 years.

It was soon determined Richter would be charged with 1 count of Aggravated Stalking and 18 counts of Generating Obscene Material.  All charges have Hate Crimes attached.

Richter’s whereabouts in Montana were discovered on 4/30/12.  As a result, an arrest warrant was obtained.  He was taken into custody by Montana authorities later that afternoon and is currently awaiting extradition back to Florida.

A search warrant was conducted on Richter’s Seminole residence later that same evening.  Evidence was collected and submitted.
