What:  Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit have arrested a Dunedin man for sexual performance by a child after he had the victim, a 12 year-old female, pose for pictures bound and gagged.

Detectives are requesting the public’s assistance with any additional information rearding the suspect as he has had contact with other minors through employment and volunteer opportunities.

Where:  The crime occurred in a private residence in north Pinellas County.

When:  The crime is alleged to have occurred on at least three ocassions between August 2011 and February 2012.

How/Why:

On Sunday, February 5, 2012, the victim’s mother reported the crime to deputies at the Sheriff’s
Office North District Station, after she learned from the child about the crime.

The case was assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit. Through their investigation, detectives were able to determine that between August of last year and February 5, 2012 the suspect agreed to pay the victim $100 to dress up in various outfits; he bound and gagged her and then took photographs of her.

Detectives say the crime occurred on at least three different occasions. It is unclear at this time how much money the girl actually received.

Detectives arrested the suspect on the evening of February 8, 2012 for sexual performance by a child.

Detectives believe there may be other victims, as the suspect has had contact with minors through part time employment at the Child’s Nest Daycare Center located on Jackson Springs Boulevard in Tampa; and as a volunteer for Pinellas County Schools, volunteering at Dunedin Middle and Dunedin High School.

The investigation continues.

At this time detectives are asking that anyone with additional information on this suspect contact Detective Dennis Garvey of the Crimes Against Children Unit at 727-582-6200.
