The crash occurred at about 6:45 a.m. on Friday, November 6, 2009 at the intersection of Curlew and Fisher Roads.
According to investigators, the motorcycle driven by 44-year-old Daryl Miles was traveling eastbound on Curlew road approaching the intersection of Fisher Road. Deputies say the motorcycle was in the curb lane and switched to the median lane just before entering the intersection. The Nissan Frontier driven by 16-year-old Jordan Francis was making a left turn from northbound Fisher Road onto westbound Curlew when the motorcycle collided with the front end of the pick-up truck ejecting Miles from the motorcycle. He was not wearing a helmet.
Miles was transported to Mease Countryside Hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries. He was pronounced deceased at 7:26 a.m. at the hospital.
Jordan Francis and his 15-year-old sister Brenda Francis, who was the passenger of the pick-up, were transported to Mease Countryside Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
A third vehicle driven by 36-year-old Kerry Sullivan, which was headed westbound on Curlew Road, was struck by debris from the crash, causing minor damage to the vehicle. Sullivan was not injured.
