Amscot Financial (Donates over 250 bike helmets)

What:  Amscot Financial and the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting a free bicycle helmet giveaway to support the needs of children in the county and to promote child bicycle safety. Amscot has donated over 250 helmets that will be distributed by deputies from the Community Policing Unit, Community Education and Programs Unit and the Crime Prevention Unit.

Where:  The helmet giveaway will take place at two Amscot locations at 11152 Starkey Road in Largo and at 6585 102nd Avenue in Pinellas Park. (Best photo-op will be at first location.)

When:  The donated bike helmet giveaway will take place from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2009.

How/Why:  

Amscot Financial and the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting a free bicycle helmet giveaway to support the needs of children in the county and to promote child bicycle safety. Amscot has donated over 250 helmets that will be distributed by deputies from the Community Policing Unit, Community Education and Programs Unit and the Crime Prevention Unit.

The donated bike helmet giveaway will take place from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at two Amscot locations at 11152 Starkey Road in Largo and at 6585 102nd Avenue in Pinellas Park. (Best photo-op will  be at first location.) 
 

Deputies will be on hand to distribute the donated helmets to individuals and families who request them for their children on a first come, first serve basis. The helmets will also be distributed through the local pre-schools, daycares and elementary schools.  The helmets are free of charge. Those wishing to receive a helmet/or helmets need only provide child size (small, medium or large.)

 

This is the third year in a row that the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office has partnered with Amscot to distribute the helmets. Amscot is also partnering with other area law enforcement agencies to distribute helmets.
