What:  Deputies have arrested a suspect in connection with an attempted residential burglary in Palm Harbor. The suspect was tracked and apprehended by Deputy Jacob Viano and his K-9 partner, Valor.

Where:  Deputies responded to the attempted burglary at a private residence located at 465 Plover Place in Palm Harbor.

When:  Deputies responded to the attempted burglary at about 10:25 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2009.

How/Why:  

Deputies have arrested a suspect in connection with an attempted residential burglary in Palm Harbor. Deputies responded to the attempted burglary at about 10:25 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at a private residence located at 465 Plover Place.

According to deputies, the suspect knocked at the front door of the residence. When there was no reply, the suspect went around the back of the home and attempted to enter the home by opening a back window.

As he was attempting to open the window, the suspect saw the resident inside the home and fled on foot. 

The resident called 911. Sheriff's Office Patrol, Flight Section and Canine Unit deputies responded to the scene and set up a perimeter in the area.

The suspect was subsequently seen by a deputy near Tampa Road and Riviere Drive and a foot chase began. Deputies say the suspect jumped several fences and into a horse farm and eventually entered the Garlands subdivision. A short time later, the suspect was tracked and apprehended by Deputy Jacob Viano and his canine partner, Valor, as he hid in a marsh area of the subdivision located near Tampa Road and Belcher.

20-year-old Trent David Gayle was arrested for attempted burglary of an occupied residence, and resisting arrest without violence.
