Detectives are investigating the death of a Pinellas County Jail Inmate. The inmate, 38-year-old Robert Miller, was booked into the Pinellas County Jail at 9:55 a.m. on October 2, 2009 after being arrested by deputies for trafficking in oxycodone, DUI and doctor shopping.

According to detectives, the inmate was found unresponsive by staff members on the morning of October 10, 2009. Detention and Corrections deputies immediately alerted jail medical staff members and activated the 911 system. The inmate was transported to Largo Medical Center at about 9:06 a.m. on October 10, 2009. The inmate had been housed within the Inmate Healthcare Facility at the jail due to pre-existing medical conditions.

The inmate was ROR-d on October 13, 2009.

While still at Largo Medical Center, the inmate was pronounced deceased at 10:10 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2009.

Detectives say the inmate's death does not appear suspicious. Detectives and the Medical Examiner's Office will review jail records and medical records to determine if an autopsy  will be conducted. 

Per policy, detectives assigned to the Sheriff's Office Robbery/Homicide Unit and Administrative Investigation Division will investigate the death.

The investigation continues.
